Pathological calcification
Pathological calcification occurs when calcium salts improperly build up in the body's tissues or organs, outside of normal bone formation. This abnormal deposit can happen due to tissue damage, inflammation, or certain diseases, leading to hard, calcium-rich spots that may impair how the affected tissue functions. Unlike regular bone development, this process is not controlled by normal biological mechanisms and can cause discomfort, reduce flexibility, or interfere with organ performance depending on where it occurs. It is often a sign of an underlying health issue and requires medical evaluation and management.
