Pathologic Classic HD

Pathologic Classic HD is a rare, inherited neural disorder that causes progressive degeneration mainly in the brain regions responsible for movement, coordination, and cognitive functions. Symptoms typically include movement difficulties, speech problems, and cognitive decline, often appearing in adulthood. It is caused by genetic mutations affecting nerve cell health. There is no current cure, but management focuses on alleviating symptoms and improving quality of life through medications, therapy, and supportive care. The condition is inherited in an autosomal dominant pattern, meaning a single copy of the altered gene can cause the disorder.
