Patch test
A patch test is a method used to identify if your skin has an allergic reaction to specific substances. Small amounts of potential allergens are applied to your skin, usually on the back or arm, under adhesive patches. These patches stay in place for about 48 hours. Afterward, the healthcare provider examines the area to see if any redness, swelling, or irritation has occurred, indicating a possible allergy. Patch tests help determine what might be causing skin problems like dermatitis, guiding effective treatment and allergen avoidance.
