Passive Optical Network
A Passive Optical Network (PON) is a fiber optic communication system that delivers internet, television, and phone services using light signals. It uses a central line from the service provider to a main splitter, which evenly distributes the signals to multiple homes or businesses without needing powered equipment at the distribution points. This "passive" setup reduces costs and maintenance. Each connected user gets high-speed data through a fiber connection, ensuring fast and reliable communication. PONs are widely used in modern networks because they efficiently serve many users with minimal infrastructure.
