partition chromatography
Partition chromatography is a technique used to separate different substances within a mixture based on their distribution between two immiscible phases: a stationary phase and a mobile phase. In this method, the mixture is dissolved in a liquid (the mobile phase) that moves through or over another liquid (the stationary phase) that doesn't mix with it. Substances in the mixture spread out between these two phases depending on how much they prefer each phase. Compounds that favor the mobile phase move faster, while those that prefer the stationary phase move slower, allowing their separation over time.
