Parthian Horse Archers
Parthian horse archers were skilled mounted warriors from the ancient Parthian Empire (approximately 247 BC to 224 AD), located in what is now Iran. They were renowned for their ability to shoot arrows with great accuracy while riding horses at high speeds. This tactical advantage allowed them to attack swiftly and retreat before counterattacks could occur. The Parthians used a unique technique called the "Parthian shot," where they would turn their bodies around while riding away to shoot at pursuing enemies. This mobility and surprise made Parthian horse archers a formidable force in ancient warfare, influencing tactics for centuries.
