Parsees
Parsees, or Parsis, are followers of Zoroastrianism, one of the world's oldest monotheistic religions, which originated in ancient Persia (modern-day Iran). The term "Parsee" refers specifically to the community that migrated to India around the 8th century to escape religious persecution. They maintain unique cultural traditions and practices, including the worship of fire as a symbol of divine light. Parsees are known for their contributions to Indian society, particularly in industry and philanthropy. Today, the community is small but influential, primarily residing in India and Pakistan, facing challenges related to population decline and cultural preservation.
