Parole and Probation
Parole and probation are forms of supervised release for individuals involved with the justice system. Parole refers to early release from prison before completing the full sentence, allowing the person to serve the rest of their term under supervision in the community. Probation, on the other hand, is a court-ordered period of supervision in lieu of incarceration, typically given as part of a sentencing decision. Both aim to rehabilitate offenders and reduce re-offense, with conditions like regular check-ins, employment, or treatment programs. If conditions are violated, parole or probation can be revoked, resulting in detention or incarceration.
