Parlementary sovereignty

Parliamentary sovereignty is the principle that the UK Parliament is the highest legal authority in the country. It means Parliament can create, amend, or repeal any law, and no other body—such as courts or the monarchy—can override its decisions. Essentially, Parliament’s laws take precedence over all other laws. This concept ensures that legislative power resides fully with Parliament, making its decisions final within the legal framework, unless constrained by constitutional principles or international obligations.
