Parkinsonism and Related Disorders
Parkinsonism refers to a group of neurological conditions characterized by movement problems such as tremors, rigidity, slow movements, and balance issues. Parkinson’s disease is the most common form, caused by loss of nerve cells that produce dopamine, a chemical important for movement control. Other related disorders, like multiple system atrophy or progressive supranuclear palsy, have similar symptoms but different underlying causes and progressions. These conditions result from brain changes that affect coordination and muscle control. While they share symptoms, accurate diagnosis is essential for appropriate management and treatment.
