Paris Peace Agreements
The Paris Peace Agreements were negotiated treaties signed in January 1973 that aimed to end the Vietnam War. They involved the United States, North Vietnam, South Vietnam, and the Viet Cong. The agreements called for a ceasefire, withdrawal of U.S. troops, the return of prisoners, and a framework for peace and political stability in Vietnam. The goal was to bring an end to active conflict and enable Vietnam to decide its future peacefully. While the accords reduced direct U.S. involvement, fighting continued between North and South Vietnam afterward, leading to the eventual reunification under North Vietnamese control.
