Paraneoplastic Glomerulopathies
Paraneoplastic glomerulopathies are kidney disorders that occur as a result of cancer elsewhere in the body. They happen when cancer cells produce substances that disrupt normal kidney function or trigger an immune response, leading to inflammation and damage in the kidney's filtering units, called glomeruli. This can cause symptoms like protein in the urine, swelling, and changes in kidney function. These conditions are often associated with specific types of cancer and can improve if the underlying cancer is treated effectively. Early diagnosis and management of both the kidney issue and the cancer are crucial for better outcomes.
