Papyri

Papyri are ancient documents made from the papyrus plant, a type of reed that grows in Egypt and surrounding regions. Early civilizations used them to write texts such as manuscripts, letters, and official records before paper became common. The surface of papyrus was prepared and written upon with ink, making these materials valuable for historical and archaeological study. Today, papyri provide insights into ancient cultures, languages, and knowledge, often preserved in dry climates where they survive for thousands of years. They are considered some of the earliest forms of written record-keeping.
