Papilla

A papilla is a small, nipple-like projection or bump found in various parts of the body. In the skin, hair papillae are tiny structures at the base of hair follicles that supply nutrients and help hair grow. In the mouth, papillae are the small bumps on the tongue that contain taste buds, allowing us to sense different flavors. Similarly, in the kidney, papillae are structures within the kidney’s filtering system. Overall, papillae serve as important functional or structural points that contribute to sensory, nutritional, or filtering processes in the body.
