Paphlagonia

Paphlagonia was an ancient region located along the northern coast of what is now Turkey, bordered by the Black Sea to the north and the regions of Bithynia and Galatia to the south. Known for its rugged, mountainous terrain, it was inhabited by various tribes, including the Paphlagonians. Historically, it was part of several empires, such as the Persian and later Greek and Roman domains. The area was recognized for its strategic importance, as well as its production of agriculture and trade. Today, it roughly corresponds to the modern provinces of Amasya and Bartın in Turkey.
