Panthera leo

Panthera leo, commonly known as the lion, is a large African carnivore known for its strength and social behavior. Lions live in groups called prides, which usually consist of related females, their offspring, and a few dominant males. They are skilled hunters, primarily preying on large herbivores like zebras and wildebeests. Recognizable by their muscular build, golden coats, and males with a thick mane, lions play a vital role in their ecosystems as apex predators. They are often called the "king of the jungle," although they primarily inhabit open savannas and grasslands rather than dense forests.
