pancuronium
Pancuronium is a medication used during surgery to temporarily relax and paralyze muscles, including those involved in breathing. It belongs to a class called neuromuscular blockers, which work by blocking nerve signals to muscles. This allows surgeons to perform procedures more safely and effectively, especially when muscle movement could interfere. While it's very effective, pancuronium doesn’t cause sedation or pain relief on its own, so anesthesia is also used to keep patients unconscious and comfortable. Its effects are reversible with specific medications once the surgical procedure is complete.
