Pancreatic Resection
A pancreatic resection is a surgical procedure to remove part or all of the pancreas, often performed to treat pancreatic cancer or other serious conditions. The pancreas is an organ that produces enzymes for digestion and hormones like insulin. Depending on the disease, the surgeon may remove the head, tail, or the entire pancreas, sometimes along with nearby tissues or lymph nodes. After removal, the remaining pancreas and digestive organs are connected to allow normal digestion and blood sugar regulation. The procedure aims to remove the diseased tissue while preserving as much normal function as possible.
