Panama Revolution
The Panama Revolution, also known as the Thousand Days' War, was a significant conflict in the early 20th century (1910-1914) between Panama and Colombia. Panama sought independence to gain control over its own affairs and to facilitate the construction of the Panama Canal. The revolution involved a brief, organized uprising supported by local leaders and the United States, which had strategic interest in building the canal. Panama declared independence on November 3, 1903, resulting in the establishment of the Republic of Panama, allowing it to negotiate the canal zone agreement and fostering its sovereignty.
