Panama Congress
The Panama Congress, held in 1826 in Panama City, was a significant meeting aimed at promoting cooperation among the newly independent Latin American nations after they gained freedom from Spanish colonial rule. Delegates from several countries, including Gran Colombia, Mexico, and the United Provinces of the Rio de la Plata, gathered to discuss mutual interests, security, and economic integration. Though it produced some agreements, the congress ultimately struggled with political differences, and many countries chose not to send representatives, leading to limited success. It was an early attempt at regional unity in Latin America.
