Pan painter
A Pan Painter is an ancient Greek artist known for creating vase paintings, especially on large, cylindrical vessels called "pans." These painters specialized in decorating pottery with detailed illustrations of mythological scenes, daily life, and symbolism. Their work involved applying a slip (liquid clay) to create images that would turn black during firing, a technique known as "black-figure" pottery. Pan Painters contributed significantly to Greek art, combining storytelling with aesthetic design, and their signatures often appear on the pottery, helping scholars attribute works to specific artists or workshops.
