Pan-Germanism
Pan-Germanism was a political movement that aimed to unite all German-speaking people into a single nation. Emerging in the 19th century, it promoted cultural, political, and territorial unity among Germans across different regions and countries, especially those outside Germany's borders. Supporters believed this unity would strengthen Germany’s power and identity. The movement gained prominence during periods of national consolidation and influenced political decisions, including expansionist policies in the lead-up to World War I. Overall, Pan-Germanism centered on the idea of a shared German identity encompassing all German speakers.
