Palmach

The Palmach was an elite unit of the Jewish military organization during the British Mandate period in Palestine (1940s). Established in 1941, it served as a highly trained resistance force involved in defending Jewish communities, gathering intelligence, and carrying out sabotage against British authorities and Arab adversaries. Following the establishment of Israel in 1948, many Palmach veterans helped form the core of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). The Palmach played a key role in the fighting for independence and is remembered for its strategic operations and contributions to Israeli state-building.
