Palliative Care and Intersex

Palliative care is specialized medical treatment aimed at improving quality of life for people with serious illnesses, focusing on relieving symptoms, pain, and emotional or psychological challenges, regardless of age or diagnosis. It can be provided alongside curative treatments or as the main focus of care when curative options are no longer effective. Intersex refers to individuals born with physical sex characteristics—such as chromosomes, gonads, or genitalia—that do not fit typical definitions of male or female. Intersex variations are natural biological differences, and the term promotes understanding, acceptance, and appropriate healthcare tailored to diverse bodies.
