Palaeologan Renaissance
The Palaeologan Renaissance was a cultural revival during the late Byzantine Empire (roughly 14th to early 15th centuries) under the Palaiologos dynasty. Despite political decline, it saw renewed interest in classical Greek texts, art, and philosophy, fostering a flourishing of literature, iconography, and humanist ideas. This period helped preserve and transmit ancient knowledge, influencing the Renaissance in Western Europe. It was characterized by artistic and scholarly achievements that reflected a pride in Byzantine heritage and a desire to reaffirm cultural and religious identity amidst growing external threats.
