Paiute War

The Paiute War was a conflict in 1865 between Native American Paiute tribes and white settlers and U.S. military forces in southern Nevada and California. Tensions arose due to land disputes, resource struggles, and broken agreements. The Paiutes, seeking to defend their territory and way of life, launched attacks on settlers. The U.S. military responded with force, ultimately suppressing the Paiute resistance. The war resulted in loss of life, displacement, and reinforced the tensions over land and rights between Native Americans and settlers during that period.
