Paired exchange donation

Paired exchange donation is a way for kidney patients who have a willing but incompatible donor to still receive a transplant. In this system, two or more donor-recipient pairs swap donors so each recipient gets a compatible kidney. For example, if Person A’s donor can’t donate to them but can donate to Person B, and Person B’s donor can’t donate to them but can donate to Person A, the kidneys are exchanged between the pairs. This approach increases the chances of successful transplants for patients who would otherwise be unable to receive a compatible organ from their own donor.
