Pain Relief Theories
Pain relief theories explore how the body reduces or manages pain. Gate Control Theory suggests that the nervous system has "gates" that can block pain signals, so stimulating other nerves can lessen pain. Endorphin Release Theory explains that the body produces natural chemicals called endorphins that act like painkillers. Placebo Effect shows that believing in a treatment’s effectiveness can temporarily reduce pain, thanks to psychological factors. Together, these theories help us understand that pain management involves complex interactions between the nervous system, chemicals, and psychological factors, guiding effective treatments.
