PAIGC (African Party for the Independence of Guinea and Cape Verde)
The African Party for the Independence of Guinea and Cape Verde (PAIGC) is a political organization that led the movement to gain independence from Portuguese colonial rule in Guinea-Bissau and Cape Verde during the 1960s and 1970s. Founded in 1956, PAIGC coordinated armed resistance and political efforts to establish sovereignty for these territories. After successful independence in the 1970s, PAIGC became the ruling party in Guinea-Bissau and also played a significant role in Cape Verde's political landscape. It aims to promote national development, sovereignty, and social progress based on its history of anti-colonial activism.
