Padmapani
Padmapani, also known as Avalokiteshvara in Sanskrit, is a revered bodhisattva in Mahayana Buddhism representing compassion and mercy. Often depicted holding a lotus flower ("padma" means lotus, "pani" means held), Padmapani symbolizes purity, enlightenment, and the wish to help all sentient beings attain awakening. The lotus signifies spiritual awakening rising above worldly attachments. This figure embodies the compassionate vow to assist others on their spiritual path and is revered across many Asian cultures, especially in Tibet and India. Artistic representations often show Padmapani with serene expressions, elaborate robes, and holding symbolic objects, emphasizing tranquility, benevolence, and divine wisdom.
