Pacific Electric Railway
The Pacific Electric Railway was a vast network of streetcars and trains operating in Southern California, mainly Los Angeles, from the early 1900s until the mid-20th century. It connected neighborhoods, suburbs, and towns, making it easier for people to travel around the region before cars became dominant. Known as the "Red Car" system due to its distinctive color, it played a significant role in shaping Los Angeles’ growth and development. Though it was dismantled in the mid-1900s, modern transit agencies have begun developing new rail systems inspired by its extensive reach.
