Pacemaker and ICD Implantation

Pacemaker and ICD implantation are procedures to help manage heart rhythm problems. A pacemaker is a small device placed under the skin that sends electrical signals to maintain a steady heartbeat when the heart beats too slowly or irregularly. An Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD) is similar but also detects dangerous rapid heartbeats and delivers shocks to restore normal rhythm, preventing sudden cardiac arrest. Both devices are implanted under local anesthesia, with leads connected to the heart through a vein. They improve quality of life and increase safety for individuals with certain heart rhythm disorders.
