PACE Trial

The PACE Trial was a large study conducted in the UK to evaluate treatments for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (CFS/ME). It compared cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and graded exercise therapy (GET) against standard medical care. The goal was to see if these psychological and activity-based treatments could improve symptoms and function. The trial's results suggested some benefit, but later criticism questioned its methods and conclusions, leading to ongoing debate about the best ways to manage CFS/ME. The trial remains influential but controversial in understanding and treating this complex condition.
