Pac-8 Conference

The Pac-8 Conference was a collegiate athletic league consisting of eight universities in the western United States, primarily in California and Oregon. Established in 1968, it organized competitions in various sports, most notably college football and basketball. The conference aimed to promote regional rivalries, improve athletic competition, and provide television exposure. In 1978, it expanded and became the Pac-10, eventually evolving into the current Pac-12. The Pac-8 was significant for shaping college athletics in the western U.S., fostering school rivalries, and contributing to the development of conference-based college sports.
