PABPC1

PABPC1, or Poly(A)-Binding Protein Cytoplasmic 1, is a protein found in human cells that plays a critical role in gene expression. It binds to the poly(A) tail—a string of adenine nucleotides at the end of messenger RNA (mRNA)—stabilizing the mRNA and helping it to be translated into proteins efficiently. By doing so, PABPC1 influences how much protein a cell produces. It also interacts with other cellular components to regulate mRNA lifespan and translation, ultimately supporting proper cell function and responses.
