PABP

PABP, or Poly(A)-binding protein, is a cellular protein that binds to the poly(A) tail—a stretch of adenine nucleotides—at the end of messenger RNA (mRNA) molecules. Its main role is to protect mRNA from degradation, assist in the process of translation (protein production), and regulate how long mRNA remains active in the cell. By interacting with other proteins and parts of the cell's machinery, PABP ensures that protein synthesis occurs efficiently and properly, playing a crucial role in gene expression regulation.
