Pét nat

Pét nat, short for "pétillant naturel" (French for "natural sparkling"), is a type of sparkling wine made using a traditional, natural fermentation process that occurs in the bottle. Unlike Champagne, which undergoes controlled fermentation and dosage, pét nat involves bottling the wine before fermentation is complete, allowing carbonation to develop naturally from the remaining sugars. The result is a lightly fizzy, often cloudy wine with vibrant flavors, often showcasing the essence of the grapes and terroir. It’s appreciated for its rustic, artisanal character and unpredictable, lively bubbles.
