Oxygenator Systems
Oxygenator systems are devices used in medical settings, particularly during procedures like open-heart surgery or ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation), to add oxygen to blood and remove carbon dioxide. They act as an artificial lung outside the body, ensuring blood remains properly oxygenated when the lungs can't do so effectively. Blood is drawn from the patient, passes through the oxygenator where it picks up oxygen and releases carbon dioxide, then flows back into the body. These systems are crucial for supporting patients with severe respiratory or cardiac failure temporarily or during complex surgeries.
