Oxygen Sensors
Oxygen sensors are small devices in a vehicle's exhaust system that measure the amount of oxygen in the exhaust gases. This information helps the engine control unit (ECU) optimize the fuel mixture, ensuring efficient combustion. Proper regulation of the air-to-fuel ratio improves fuel economy, reduces emissions, and maintains engine performance. If the oxygen sensor detects too much or too little oxygen, it signals the ECU to adjust the fuel injection accordingly. Faulty sensors can cause poor fuel efficiency, increased emissions, and engine problems, so they are essential for maintaining a vehicle’s optimal operation.
