Oxygen diffusion is the process where oxygen molecules move from an area of higher concentration, such as your lungs, to an area of lower concentration, like your bloodstream. This movement occurs through tiny structures called alveoli in the lungs, where the thin walls allow oxygen to pass through into the blood. The oxygen then binds to hemoglobin in red blood cells, enabling it to be transported throughout the body. Diffusion is driven by the natural tendency of molecules to spread out evenly, balancing concentrations between areas until equilibrium is reached.
