Oxfordian
Oxfordian refers to the theory that William Shakespeare of Stratford-upon-Avon was not the true author of the widely attributed Shakespearean plays and poems. Instead, proponents believe the real author was Edward de Vere, the 17th Earl of Oxford, a nobleman with a rich education and access to literary circles. This theory questions traditional authorship and suggests Oxford's life experiences and knowledge better explain the depth and sophistication of the works. While not universally accepted, the Oxfordian perspective offers an alternative view on the origins of these influential texts.
