Outer ear

The outer ear consists of the visible part called the pinna and the ear canal. Its main role is to collect sound waves from the environment and funnel them inward. The pinna helps localize the direction of sounds, while the ear canal amplifies certain frequencies. Together, they direct sound toward the eardrum, initiating the process of hearing. The outer ear also provides some protection from dirt and debris. Overall, it acts as the first stage in capturing and guiding sound toward the inner parts of the ear for interpretation.
