Oubangui-Chari
Oubangui-Chari was a French colony located in central Africa, roughly corresponding to present-day Central African Republic. Established in the early 20th century, it was part of French Equatorial Africa and served as an administrative region under French control. The area was characterized by diverse cultures and a mix of colonial infrastructure and exploitation. It remained a French territory until gaining independence in 1960, after which it became the Central African Republic. The name “Oubangui-Chari” reflects the region's primary river (Oubangui) and the historical Chari River area, symbolizing its geographical and colonial origins.
