Ottoman Council of Ministers
The Ottoman Council of Ministers was the executive branch of the Ottoman Empire’s government, functioning similarly to a cabinet. It was composed of high-ranking officials, including the Grand Vizier (prime minister) and ministers responsible for specific areas like finance, foreign affairs, and internal security. The council advised the Sultan and helped implement laws and policies, coordinating the administration across the empire’s vast territories. Its role evolved over time, especially during reforms in the 19th century, becoming a key institution for governing and modernizing the empire in response to internal and external challenges.
