Osteoporotic fracture
An osteoporotic fracture occurs when weakened bones, due to osteoporosis—a condition where bone density decreases—become fragile and prone to breaking even from minor falls or stresses. Common sites include the hips, spine, and wrists. These fractures can cause pain, disability, and reduce mobility, especially in older adults. Osteoporosis often develops silently, with no symptoms until a fracture occurs. Maintaining bone health through adequate calcium and vitamin D intake, regular weight-bearing exercise, and medical management can help reduce the risk of such fractures.
