Osteopathic Graduate Medical Education

Osteopathic Graduate Medical Education (OGME) refers to the advanced training that physicians with a Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree undergo after medical school. This training occurs in residency programs, where they gain specialized skills in various fields of medicine. Osteopathic training emphasizes a holistic approach to patient care, considering the body as a whole and incorporating manual therapy techniques. OGME prepares DOs to become fully licensed physicians, capable of diagnosing and treating patients, and they often work alongside their allopathic (MD) counterparts in hospitals and medical practices.
