Ossuary

An ossuary is a container or box used to hold human bones, typically after initial burial conditions change or when space is needed for additional burials. They are often made of stone, clay, or ceramic and are found in cemeteries or burial sites. Historically, ossuaries reflect cultural practices of respectfully storing remains in a consolidated manner, often with decorative elements or inscriptions. They serve both practical and ritual purposes, helping manage limited burial space and honoring the deceased.
