Ossetian language
Ossetian is an Iranian language spoken primarily in the Caucasus region, mainly by the Ossetian people in North Ossetia (Russia) and South Ossetia (disputed territory). It has two main dialects—Iron and Digor—and uses the Cyrillic script. Ossetian has unique features, blending Indo-European and Caucasian influences, and is part of the Eastern Iranian language family. It serves as a cultural identifier and maintains a rich oral tradition. Despite challenges from dominant languages like Russian and Georgian, Ossetian remains an important element of Ossetian identity and heritage.
