Oslo Accord
The Oslo Accords are a series of agreements signed in the 1990s between Israel and the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) aimed at establishing a framework for peaceful coexistence and resolving their long-standing conflict. They involved mutual recognition—Israel recognizing the PLO as the representative of the Palestinian people, and the PLO recognizing Israel's right to exist. The accords outlined steps toward establishing Palestinian self-governance in parts of the West Bank and Gaza Strip. While they marked a significant diplomatic effort, many issues remain unresolved, and the peace process has faced challenges and setbacks since then.
