Oscar Arias

Oscar Arias is a Costa Rican politician who served as the President of Costa Rica twice, from 1986 to 1990 and again from 2006 to 2010. He is best known for his efforts to promote peace in Central America, particularly through negotiating the Esquipulas Accords, which helped reduce conflicts in the 1980s. His work in fostering stability and democracy earned him the Nobel Peace Prize in 1987. Arias is recognized for his leadership in promoting peaceful resolutions to regional conflicts and advancing social and economic development in Costa Rica.
